Three adjustment counselors are available to assist you with circumstances that impact your ability to be successful in school. This counseling is available for all students through self, parent, faculty, or community referral. You may contact the adjustment counselors through your guidance counselor. The pupil adjustment counselors’ offices are located on the first floor in room 107 and the Guidance Office. The adjustment counselors supervise the common area of room 107 and it is appointment only.

They are all licensed counselors with LICSW or LMHC.

Scheduling a Meeting:

• Immediate Accessibility for Urgent Matters:
  In cases of urgency, appointments can be promptly arranged to address pressing concerns.
• Referral Process for Regular Meetings:
  Regular meetings typically require a referral from a school guidance counselor. This referral process involves a comprehensive assessment by the counselor to determine suitability for ongoing support.
• Diverse Support Offerings:
  School counselors offer assistance with a wide range of issues including stress management, OCD, depression, disordered eating, family conflicts, friendship and relationship issues, post-graduation anxieties, self-harm, and suicidal ideation.
• Mitigating Impact on School and Daily Life:
  Counselors work collaboratively with students to minimize the impact of these challenges on their academic performance and daily functioning.
• Accessible Support Network:
  Students are assured that if they are unable to reach an Adjustment Counselor (AC), they can seek support from any trusted adult within the school premises.

Outside Therapy:

• Collaboration with External Counselors:
  Adjustment Counselors maintain communication with external therapists to ensure comprehensive and integrated support for students.
• Facilitating Connections with Healthcare Providers:
  They assist students in initiating conversations with primary care physicians and facilitate the process of families finding suitable external therapists.

Bryt Program and Hospital Transitions:

• Introduction of Bryt Program:
  Milton High School recently integrated the Bryt program into its mental health support services. Bryt, short for "Bridge for Resilient Youth in Transition," aims to redefine how schools support students by bridging education, mental health, and youth development.
• Collaborative Approach:
  Adjustment Counselors work in conjunction with the Bryt program to promote mental health awareness and create a safe and inclusive learning environment.
• Transition Support:
  Counselors assist students in transitioning to and from partial hospitalization programs, which offer intensive therapeutic interventions. They oversee reentry meetings with the school to facilitate the student's readjustment to academic life.
• Comprehensive Support Network:
  Adjustment Counselors discreetly inform teachers about students facing challenges while closely coordinating with school administration, the school nurse, and teachers to ensure students receive comprehensive support for their academic and personal well-being.
